A Sweet Christmas Present -
Pictures of the Icewine Harvest 2007
On 23 December 2007 at -8°C we have harvested a Merlot Icewine at Trockenbeerenauslese quality level. After numerous freezing days it was finally cold enough for the grapes to be frozen stiff. Still frozen the grapes arrived at the cellar and were immediatly pressed, with a layer of ice soon on the outside of the press as well. Through gentle pressing a juice with highly concentrated extracs and aromas has been won. Leaving behind ice, skins and skeletons. We are again looking foreward to an exceptional Merlot!
Besides Merlot Icewine we also have this year after a long time some white desert wines in the cellar, a Riesling Beerenauslese (single berry selection) and a Grauburgunder Trockenbeerenauslese (Pinot Gris dry berry selection). Signs of the outstanding quality of this vintage!
